What is Sex Addiction?

The simplest definition of sex addiction is that it describes any pattern of out-of-control sexual behaviour that causes problems in someone’s life. It is a pattern of behaviour that cannot be stopped despite repeated attempts to do so.

There are two other addictions that are closely linked to sexual addiction but not identical.
Love Addiction is the inability to separate from an unhealthy relationship despite repeated attempts to do so. The addict feels overcome with fear, anxiety and depression when they think about ending the relationship. The addict will stay in the relationship even when it is unsafe to do so.
The Healing Begins Service will also work with Love Addicts to help them manage their relationships better and free themselves of addictive-like tendencies.

Romance Addiction is often not acknowledged as a real addiction because its negative consequences are not as obvious to society. Many women, and some men, find themselves more interested in the Romance they experience than the person they are with. So when the situation does not live up to their fantasies  they become disillusioned and seek out a new partner as a result.
